Our Mission & Vision

Hindara Educational and Social Development Inc. is dedicated to supporting Afghan newcomers in Windsor through educational programs, cultural preservation initiatives, and community integration services. We strive to create a welcoming environment where Afghan newcomers can thrive while maintaining their cultural identity.

Our vision is a vibrant, inclusive Windsor where Afghan newcomers are empowered, connected, and fully integrated into the community, contributing their unique skills and perspectives while preserving their rich cultural heritage.

Our History: From Afghanistan to Windsor

Hindara Educational and Social Development Organization (HESDO) began its journey in Afghanistan in 2003, founded by Ghousuddin Frotan and fellow visionaries. Dedicated to social development, Hindara focused on education, capacity building, peace building, and conflict resolution. The organization tackled illiteracy, empowered youth, and worked to heal communities affected by conflict. Key initiatives included developing an approved curriculum (English, Science, Math, Computer, Art Club), establishing the Ako Bako children's magazine, providing agriculture training, promoting culture and sports, offering WASH services, and delivering psycho-social support. With support from partners like the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), USAID, USIP, and the EU, Hindara implemented impactful programs, including training youth and coaching police to build community trust. Even amidst challenges, Hindara's schools provided vital learning opportunities, especially for girls.

In 2024, Hindara officially launched its operations in Windsor, Canada, bringing its wealth of experience to support newly arrived Afghan immigrants with housing, education, employment, and social integration, fostering a sense of unity and civic engagement within Windsor’s growing Afghan community.
